Chimney & Lead Work

Chimney repairs, repointing and rebuilds, plus expert lead flashing, soakers and valley work — the details that keep water out where roofs are most vulnerable.

Where Roofs Really Leak

Most roof leaks don't start in the middle of the tiles — they start at the junctions. Chimneys, valleys and the points where a roof meets a wall are where water finds its way in, and it's the lead flashing and pointing at these spots that does the hard work of keeping it out.

Lead work is a skilled trade. Formed and dressed correctly it lasts for decades; done poorly it fails fast. We've been doing it the traditional way for generations, so your chimney and flashing details are watertight and built to last.

Chimney & Lead Work FAQs

What is lead flashing and do I need it? +
Lead flashing is the weatherproofing detail where a roof meets a wall, chimney or valley. It's what stops water tracking into the building at these vulnerable junctions. If flashing is cracked, lifting or poorly formed, it's one of the most common causes of leaks — and worth putting right properly.
Should I repair or rebuild my chimney? +
If the brickwork is sound and only the pointing, flaunching or flashing has failed, a repair is usually enough. Where the stack is leaning, badly spalled or structurally unsound, a partial or full rebuild is safer. We'll inspect it and give you honest advice.
Why is my chimney leaking? +
Most chimney leaks come from failed lead flashing, cracked flaunching (the mortar around the pots), or perished pointing letting water into the brickwork. We trace the true cause and repair it so the leak stops for good.
Do you repoint chimney stacks? +
Yes — repointing worn or cracked mortar joints protects the brickwork from water and frost damage and greatly extends the life of the stack. We also renew flaunching and flashing while we're up there.
